Alan is a very experienced field sales and channel operations leader for the GroundWork Open Source team who has made a large improvement since joining the company in mid-2008. Known as an approachable leader, Alan is often found interacting with partners and customers to understand their business issues that need to be resolved by using the right mix of technology and process. Alan believes that open source will revolutionize the way businesses procure and run their IT operations. He has proven this belief by successfully displacing over-priced and over-bloated proprietary tools with GroundWork Open Source since joining the team.

Alan's character of being creative, strategic, straightforward and pragmatic was fine-tuned over 18 years in leadership roles often involved with complex solution selling. His methodology had delivered consistent success, exceeding expectations in mature and emerging markets during a variety of economic conditions. His colleagues and team members praise Alan for his "lead by example" management style that values every customer and partner's opinion.

Previously, Alan served as Vice President of Worldwide Field & Channel Operations for Vormetric, a leading provider of security solutions for protecting sensitive enterprise data from unauthorized access and theft. Prior to Vormetric, Alan was Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Actional, the leader in Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) Management, Monitoring and Security software. Alan helped lead his team to a 400% increase in revenue from 2004 to 2006, which contributed significantly to the acquisition of Actional by Progress Software.

Prior to Actional, Alan held senior sales leadership positions at a number of web-based technology companies including Datasweep and Bidcom and spent six years at Sybase, where his teams consistently exceeded sales quotas and contributed to aggressive company growth.

Alan has a bachelor's degree in economics from Ohio Wesleyan University and studied at Wroxton College in England.
